Our Goals
Our goals are focused on collaborating effectively with the Church of the Open Door on solutions that benefit both the Church and the Neighborhood. We put together this framework to show our desires to work together and move forward. These goals were presented to the church elders at a meeting on March 6th, 2025 and we received a formal response during a follow up meeting on June 5th, 2025. Further meetings are planned to continue the discussion.

Community Working Group
This neighborhood group would join with the Churches team on developing policies and procedures for the settlement with an equal seat at the table. The group would work together to acknowledge and mitigate the concerns of the neighborhood residents in a way that is beneficial for both the church and the neighborhood.
Response from Church: Further discussion around this and potential for experimentation to see how this collaborative approach may work with or without an equal seat at the table. Will review an idea of how this might look at next meeting.
Response from Settlement Maple Grove: We are very encouraged that the Church is willing to experiment and see what this collaborative approach may look like. We remain committed to a goal of an equal seat at the table and supporting the shared vision of a successful settlement.
Memorandum of Understanding
We would like a memorandum of understand that the Church is committed to working with the community working group. Before moving forward with more than 12 tiny homes, the working group would like to have the opportunity to assess the current situation and determine whether there are additional considerations.
Response from Church: Unable to agree to this item as a Memorandum of Understanding is a legal document.
Regular Impact Assessments
We would like impact assessments that include: Any violations, disputes, late rents, police calls or any other information that will help the community understand what is happening there. We would also like this communication to be balanced and include what positive impacts it has had on the people of the settlement, events held, items produced and personal accomplishments.
Response from Church: Yes to more communication – as long as it maintains the dignity, privacy and respect of the residents. They would be unable to provide specific information about residents regarding things like disputes and late rents.
Followup from Settlement Maple Grove: Provided clarity around anonymization of the requested data to maintain the dignity, privacy and respect of the residents.
